What is a TOG?
A TOG is an international warmth rating, baby sleeping bags with a higher ratings are used in cooler weather and lower ratings in warmer weather.
What room temperature is suitable for sleeping bag TOG Rating?
Below, is a suggestion for which TOG rating would be suitable at various nursery temperatures (as per 'JollyBeans Creations').
Please keep in mind that this is a guide only and all babies are different.
External factors such as clothing as well as their individual natural body temperature will also influence which TOG rating is suitable.
Room Temperature & Appropriate TOG Weight
18-20°C TOG 2.0 or TOG 1.5
20-22°C TOG 1.5 or TOG 1.0
22-24°C TOG 1.0 or TOG 0.5
> 24°C TOG 0.5
Parents should still be vigilant and check sleeping babies regularly to ensure they are not too hot / overheating or cold.
What should I dress my baby in?
Below is a guideline for what type of clothing may be suitable underneath the baby sleeping bag for various TOG ratings and nursery temperatures.
